The genesis for Poetry for Peace can be traced to March 2003 when the United States launched its "Shock and Awe" campaign on Baghdad. Several years would pass before the stars would align to facilitate revisiting the idea and to examine the practicalities of implementation.
Every balloonist dreamer needs a tether to keep the vessel anchored in reality, and it was not until early 2009 that the particular combination of dreamers (Don and Jane) would meet their tether (Ben). If two heads are better than one, then most assuredly three are exponentially better than two.

The American colonials knew that the proof of any pudding is in the tasting, and mindful of that, the three resident chefs in the Poetry for Peace kitchen each bring a particular ingredient of life experience and background to the mix.
Lofty dreams are worth dreaming, but practical results demand achievement and measuring. The time is short, and there is none to waste. So let's get started! There are programs to design, publications to plan and realize, and the next generation of young people to support and educate. So what are we waiting for?

Future plans

The longer-term goal for Poetry for Peace is to become self-sustaining through income from publications and programs. No membership dues are envisaged. The intent is to incorporate as a not-for-profit entity as soon as practicable and subsequently to achieve tax exempt status under the US Internal Revenue Code.
